We were lucky enough to attend the PMA’s this year and we wanted to share our experience on what was a great evening.

What are the Performance Marketing Awards?

The PMA’s, also known as the Performance Marketing Awards, are a high-profile award ceremony that showcases the digital marketing industries “most innovative and groundbreaking campaigns, teams and companies.” The best names from the Performance marketing world come together for a night of celebrating and networking.

Why we entered the awards ...

We entered the Performance Marketing Awards as we know these are the highest profile Marketing Awards in the UK. With many large, well-known brands from John Lewis to Specsavers these awards are one of the most competitive awards we can enter. We are proud of our work and what we do for our partners and believe we have strong campaigns with amazing performance results, to be able to compete with the bigger brands and ultimately win and get recognised. We were shortlisted for:
Best Managed Affiliate Programme – SME (small to medium-sized enterprise) with Threadbare & Rakuten Advertising
To have been shortlisted is such a big achievement for the business and our partners. We were more than happy to accept our invite to the ceremony, courtesy of Rakuten Advertising.

About The Day

On the 11th May 2023, we travelled down to London to the awards at Grosvenor House, Park Lane (following a quick detour from Grosvenor Hotel!!!). We were greeted by waiters with a complimentary glass of Champagne, we joined everyone sporting their best attire from Tux to evening gowns. The venue was very grand, looking down from the balcony with the centre stage and rows of dressed tables. We were then called downstairs to our designated table and stage, where we had a delicious three course meal before our host introduced himself and began to announce the winners.
The atmosphere was lovely with everybody supporting each other and celebrating their achievements. There were 30 awards up for grabs, not to mention the highly commended announcements too. Our table hosts were Rakuten Advertising, and they were shortlisted for 4 awards and waited until the end for their categories to be announced. It was very intense, and the nerves were high when Joel Dommett (celebrity host) began to announce the 7 nominees for the ‘Best Managed Affiliate programme – SME'. Needless to say, we were very shocked when we heard Joel, announce Customer First Digital, Threadbare & Rakuten Advertising as Highly Commended! To get this mention justified the hard work we all put into launching and scaling the Threadbare affiliate program, this was the true icing on the cake on an evening that was already great.
There was definitely reason to celebrate, and we got more reason to when Rakuten Advertising won the ‘Together We solved That’ campaign, for their new to market Strategic Launch Package that they offer, to accelerate clients affiliate marketing. The celebrations continued after the awards and the dance floor commenced with lots more networking whilst visiting the bar!
We left the venue feeling immensely proud of the team including Threadbare and Rakuten Advertising!
Congratulations to all nominees, winners and of course event host, Blue Light Card.

Judges Opinions

We loved reading what the judges had to say about our campaign, and discovering the overall reason why we won Highly Commended.
“The execution of the entry was excellent overall.
There was good adaptation of the strategy to business gaps, particularly the CSS partner involvement to compensate for PPC and the high commission launch offer to bring affiliates on board early.
There were clear objectives outlined in the entry. The strategy, execution and collaboration had good exploration into the whole funnel and B2B partnerships.
The judges commented on the good example of innovation with the work with Shopify and its personalisation and testing. “
